One Health Risk Assessment: Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease Prioritization, Mapping, and Risk Assessment
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan
VetEffect was awarded the project One Health Risk Assessment: Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease Prioritization, Mapping, and Risk Assessment for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan by the Worldbank.
The objective of this assignment is to develop
- a list of priority emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases with outbreak potential for the region, based on a prioritization exercise carried out with stakeholders from the agriculture, environment and health sectors in the five Central Asian countries;
- suitability or risk maps of the top priority diseases of different epitopes
- a risk assessment report on the top priority diseases of different epi-types requiring a OH approach.
The information generated from the analyses will be used for the design of a more focused approach to strategic/action plans (including control and prevention strategies, surveillance, etc). Further, taking a risk-based approach is likely to yield higher benefit-cost ratios on investments.
